A friendly reminder that classes on 11/16 are canceled due to the Ward Church event. MCS will resume classes on 11/23. Quite a number of parents reflected to me that they were not informed that classes on 11/30 were replaced by 11/23. I double-checked and confirmed that the date change of 11/30 to 11/23 was already announced on the newsletter of 9/28.

It is time to help raise funds to support the MCS! Our goal is to raise $1,000+ net profit.

1. Order Food Items

• Consider buying a few items as gifts for the holidays or bringing to a holiday party
• Share with friends and family, co-workers in the area who might be able to stop by the church or make arrangements with you
• Some items are perishable, consider bringing a cooler bag on pick up day
• Pre-payment is requested due to church rules – pay with Zelle, check, or cash
  • You will receive an email with the total amount from our organizers with instructions on how to pre-pay.

2. Sign-up to Volunteer to support the fundraiser – Volunteers are needed to

• Pick up food from vendors (Novi, East Lansing, other)
• Create order summaries for pick-up date
• Organize and help distribute food items at pick-up stations

Items are priced to help raise funds for the school. Funds can go to support facility rental, teachers, cultural and community building programs, etc.

The AP Chinese Preparation Test will start accepting student registration from 12/2/2024 until 1/21/2025. The organizer requested MCS to register interested students, Senior Class Parent Representation, Ching-ya Tan will collect student registration and fees, and then pass the list and fees to the Principal, and the Principal will register the test on behalf of the students. (一)修訂馬來西亞學士班聯合分發制採計「馬來西亞華文獨立中學

統一考試證書」之採計科目。

(二)於各式學士班簡章「聯合分發」之分發原則增訂必要時得訂定「醫學、牙醫及中醫學系」之最低錄取標準。

(三)依據駐緬甸代表處公告辦理居留健檢之體檢醫院名單，修正緬甸籍僑生辦理居留簽證實務作業說明。

(四)申請就讀「重點產業系所」者，報名時需填具聲明書並檢附華語文能力測驗（TOCFL）基礎級（A2）以上之證明，或達前開程度之中文能力證明文件。

Halloween

感謝各位家長以及同學們完成2024年度的讀書月活動。 文書組將開始製作獎狀，於12月14日發給各班老師，再由老師發獎狀以及獎金給符合資格的學生。

Thanks to parents and students for completing the 2024 Reading Month activity. The documentation team will start designing the certificate. We will distribute the certificates and rewards to teachers, and qualified students will be awarded in class. 

2024-25通訊錄已經製作完畢，下周將開始影印。如果無意外的話，通訊錄將在11月23日發配給各班的家長代表，再由家長代表發給各位家長。

We have completed the 2024-25 MCS Directory design and will be sent to printing next week.We will start distributing the MCS Directory to Parent Representatives on 11/23, and they will distribute to parents of each class.

由於教會臨時取消11月16日的課室，經與教會商量後，在此宣佈12月7日將為PreK,K,一年級，二年級，三四年級，五年級，七八年級班的補課日，上課時間為早上10點至中午12點。六年級以及高年級班老師由於時間關係，將以綫上課程進行。尹老師和陳老師將另行通知家長們有關上課日期與時間。CFL的補課日為2025年2月1日。以下為更新的行事曆。

Due to Ward Church canceling our classes on 11/16, after negotiating with Ward Church,12/7 will be the replacement date. However, due to a scheduled event in the afternoon, Pre-K, K, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3/4th grade, 5th grade and 7/8th grade classes will start at 10am and end at 12pm. Due to teachers’ availability, 6th grade and senior class teachers will conduct the teaching online. They will announce the date and time of the online class to the parents of 6th grade and Senior class. CFL will have the replacement class on 2/1/2025. 讀書月活動於本周六結束，請將讀書月紀錄表格帶回學校交給該班老師。讀書月活動負責人，陳佳欣，將向老師們收集學生的讀書月記錄表格。讀書月證書和獎勵將於12/14頒發給符合資格的學生們。

We’ll be wrapping up our Chinese Reading Month event tomorrow, so please have the students turn in their reading log to their teachers tomorrow. Clara Chen will collect the reading logs from their teachers. We will prepare certificates and rewards, and will be awarded to the qualified students by 12/14.

萬衆期待的豐收節遊行將於本周六進行。學生可以自帶萬聖節桶子以及服裝來學校。我們要求服裝適合學校/教堂，包括非暴力、非恐怖、沒有武器或血腥/血腥。

• 1:30-2:25: 攝影站裝飾和招待站準備工作
  1. 將糖果食品捐贈寄放到教室區外的走廊。
  2. 將裝飾品放在Studio 1和Studio 2之間的照相站。
  3. 1:30-1:40: 活動策劃者/總參謀部支援團隊成員和志工在教室外的走廊會面，進行任務分配的快速會議。
• 2:30: 豐收節遊行開始
  1. 2點30分下課鈴聲響起時，各班老師將學生帶到教室外的走廊上，從學前班到高中班，按年級依序排隊。
  2. 每個班級的學生都會在教室周圍走動，在每個零食站領取零食，並在中間的拍照站拍攝班級集體照。
  3. 學生們在教室外的走廊等待，直到所有學生都透過Treat Station 4 拍攝所有年級的最終集體照。
  4. 最後合照後，所有學生返回教室。
• 清理

Students are welcome to bring their own bag/bucket for collecting treats and wear costumes to the class or bring them in to change at school.

NOTE: We ask that costumes be school/church appropriate, which includes non-violent, non-scary, and no weapons or gore/blood.

• 1:30-2:25: Photo Station decoration and treat stations preparations
  1. Drop off treat donations at the hallway outside of the classroom area.
  2. Drop off decoration items at the Photo Station between Studio 1 and Studio 2.
  3. 1:30-1:40: Event Planner/General Staff Support team members and volunteers meet at the hallway outside the classroom for a quick meeting for task assignments.
• 2:30: Harvest Festival Parade begin
  1. When the recess bell rings at 2:30, teachers of each class will bring their students out to the hallway outside of the classroom area to line up by grade starting with Pre-K to Senior class in order.
  2. Students of each class will go around the classrooms to get their treats at each treat station and take class group pictures at the photo station in the middle.
  3. Students wait at the hallway outside the classroom area until all students pass Treat Station 4 for the final group picture of all grades.
  4. All students return to their classrooms after the final group picture.
• Clean up

學校即將在12月14舉辦點心義賣，點心義賣包含學校手藝很棒的家長料理烘培的點心小吃，與學校贊助店家商品預購。義賣組 Jennifer Morikawa 這周六召集義工，有意願幫忙的家長們可以前往Renu Cafe對面的咨詢臺集合。

MCS will be hosting the annual food sales on 12/14. Fundraising team – Jennifer Morikawa would like to invite parents who wish to help in this food sales event to gather at the information counter near the Renu Cafe.

With the support of our parent representatives, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the harvest festival event on Sat (Nov 2, 2024); therefore, we would like to seek families’ support to sign up for the “goodies” donation and/or event helper.  Like previous  year’s event, we will continue having a school wide parade and group photo session.  We will  set up a Halloween theme booth for students’ & teachers’ photos taken by class.  Students are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costumes to school that day and enjoy the parade!

Chinese Reading Month (Sep 28 – Nov 2)

An approximately month-long event meant to encourage our students to immerse themselves with Chinese book reading and/or video watching in addition to their Chinese learning in class.  Parents are encouraged to join your student’s reading month activities to make it a family fun event! 

感謝訓導幹部Andy Chang和Jack Chang的規劃及所有家長老師學生的配合，防火演習順利進行結束。同時讀書月進入第三周，請學生們持續閱讀中文書籍/觀看中文影片 。

Hope all is well.  With the support of our teachers, students, and families (big shout-out to Andy Chang and Jack Chang, our Director of Discipline, for their thorough planning and advance instructions) , we successfully carried out our annual fire drill exercise on October 5. As we are entering the 3rd week of the Reading Month, please continue to encourage our students to keep up the momentum of Chinese book reading and/or multimedia watching/listening.  Below please find a few announcements for our 6th week of the class tomorrow.

Our documentation team, Anna Lou has completed the first draft of the family directory and classes information. She will present the draft at the public area for families to verify the information to be published in the Directory. This Saturday will be your last chance to verify your information.

豐收節(萬聖節)點心/佈置品/義工登記 (Oct 19 – Nov 2, Sign-Up Link Here)

經過家長代表們討論過後決定讓小朋友有個期待的豐收節，活動在Sat (Nov 02, 2024)舉行，我們將有遊行，萬聖節布置提供拍照。請各位家長在連結登記您將提供的點心小物和佈置用品及報名活動義工。

With the support of our parent representatives, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the harvest festival event on Sat (Nov 02, 2024); therefore, we would like to seek families’ support to sign up for the “goodies” donation and/or event helper.  Like previous  year’s event, we will continue having a school wide parade and group photo session.  We will set up a Halloween theme booth for students’ & teachers’ photos taken by class.  Students are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costumes to school that day and enjoy the parade!

本週六 2:20 PM 將舉行防火演習。請所有學生依照各班老師指示前往室外集合地點. (Map here) 。

搖鈴後演習開始，到達室外集合地點後，請老師清點各班學生人數無誤，並於收到通知安全信號後，各班帶回教室走廊下課休息，於2:40 PM前進入教室上第二節課。

We will be conducting our annual school fire drill tomorrow around 2:20 p.m.  Our teachers have received guidance from the Director of Discipline earlier this week, and we expect the students to follow their respective teacher’s instructions during the evacuation exercise to move together safely as a group to the designated assembly areas outside of the Ward Church building.  The detailed evacuation plan, route, and assembly area map can be found here.

讀書月即將展開，中文學習除了課堂上的授課，學校鼓勵學生們在課外的時間多多閱讀觀看中文讀物及影片，請各位家長陪同並協助小朋友們閱讀中文圖書和影片，詳細的說明及表格將由各班老師提供及解釋。

活動辦法:

請家長將貴子弟閱讀的中文書名及閱讀時間紀錄在表格內, 並將表格於活動結束當日(11/2/2024) 繳交各班老師。凡學校或私人家中的中文書籍, 報章, 雜誌, 電視, 或電影都歡迎採用。學校教師指定的課本、習作、閱讀小書及家庭作業不在閱讀範圍之內。凡閱讀滿 240 分鐘的學生, 凡閱讀滿 240 分鐘的學生, 均予以$10為獎勵。中文電視電影觀看不可超過 120 分鐘。

We are about to kick off an approximately month-long event meant to encourage our students to immerse themselves with Chinese book reading and/or video watching in addition to their Chinese learning in class.  Parents are encouraged to join your student’s reading month activities to make it a family fun event!  Detailed participating instructions (including reward format at the end of the program) will be communicated by your respective class teacher tomorrow. 

Instructions: Please record the titles of reading materials and reading time in the reading log. Return this form to your classroom teacher on 11/2/2024. The following activities will be counted as reading time: reading Chinese books or magazines, and watching Chinese programming (TV, DVD). Time spent on assigned homework or textbook should not be counted toward reading time. Students will be rewarded with $10  for completing at least 240 minutes of reading during the reading month. Note that watching Chinese programming (TV or DVD) could only count up to 120 minutes.

為加強學生的中文閱讀能力，中文書籍借閱重新開放，我們會將書籍擺放在教室區域外的公共空間，學生可以依自己的喜好及閱讀能力借閱中文書籍，也歡迎您將家中的中文書籍帶來跟大家交換

        借閱規則:

• 每個學生每次借閱以一本為限
• 借閱時間為一週(以上課週數計算)，下個上課日上課前歸還至書籍借閱區域
• 圖書管理員不會登記每本書籍的借閱者，請大家自我遵守借閱規則
• 如果您的家中還有疫情前跟學校借閱的中文書籍，請帶回學校交換新的書籍

Program guideline:

• Honor system based so no reservation needed or rental record tracking
• Exchange/Borrowing is limited to one book per student for one class week (i.e., pick up on Saturday class and return on the next Saturday class)
• Donation of Chinese reading books are greatly appreciated

讀書月即將展開，中文學習除了課堂上的授課，學校鼓勵學生們在課外的時間多多閱讀觀看中文讀物及影片，請各位家長陪同並協助小朋友們閱讀中文圖書和影片，詳細的說明及表格將由各班老師提供及解釋。

We are about to kick off an approximately month-long event meant to encourage our students to immerse themselves with Chinese book reading and/or video watching in addition to their Chinese learning in class.  Parents are encouraged to join your student’s reading month activities to make it a family fun event!  Detailed participating instructions (including reward format at the end of the program) will be communicated by your respective class teacher tomorrow.

僑委會（113）年「全球僑校學生暨僑生歌唱大賽」經線上初賽及

線上準決賽評比，

「海外僑校（團）學生組」、「臺灣華語文學習中心組」及「國內僑生組」分別選出15組、6組及17組學生入圍總決賽。

總決賽將於台灣時間 9月21日下午1時30分舉行，並同步於YouTube平臺進行網路直播

「海外僑校（團）學生組」及「臺灣華語文學習中心組」以播放錄製影片進行，「國內僑生組」則採現場演唱方式評比

將邀請知名音樂人丁曉雯女士、林明陽先生及黃宇寒女士擔任評審；另邀請歌手楊蒨時及旨揭賽事上年度國內僑生組第一名周秋葒擔任中場演出嘉賓。
