Tomorrow is our annual bake/rummage sale event (starting at 2 p.m.).  Our parent volunteers (Claire & Clara) will be at the entrance of the classroom area (shown in the map below) to help direct the order pick-up traffic flow so please check in with either of them first prior to entering the classroom area.  For those of you who haven’t picked up your school directory yet, please stop by at the table outside of the classroom area to obtain your copy. We are seeking student volunteers to be the teaching assistants to our Pre-K teacher and/or after-class tutors for our G1 students.  All actual volunteering hours will be tracked and provided with MCS’s community service hour certificates.  The spots will be open for the students from the  current MCS registering families (teachers included) to sign up until Sat (Dec 11, 2021) before we open the remaining spots to other external students who are interested.  Please refer to detailed instructions within the sign-up link above.

為加強學生的中文閱讀能力，中文書籍借閱重新開放，我們會將書籍擺放在教室區域外的公共空間，學生可以依自己的喜好及閱讀能力借閱中文書籍，也歡迎您將家中的中文書籍帶來跟大家交換

• 每個學生每次借閱以一本為限
• 借閱時間為一週(以上課週數計算)，下個上課日上課前歸還至書籍借閱區域

Hope all is well.  Big thanks to all the parents who stepped up helping with the Harvest Festival to make the event fun and successful last week!    We’ll be wrapping up our Chinese Reading Month event tomorrow, so please have the students turn in their reading log to their teachers tomorrow.  Below please find a few announcements for our 9th week of the class tomorrow.

An approximately month-long event meant to encourage our students to immerse themselves with Chinese book reading and/or video watching in addition to their Chinese learning in class.  Parents are encouraged to join your student’s reading month activities to make it a family fun event!  

2021-2022 MCS Directory Advertising Fundraising (Now – Nov 6, 2021)

It’s that time again for our annual school directory editing/production (Big shout-out to our Documentation team led by Steven Lien and Wen-Chi Shaw) and advertising fundraising campaign.  It will be greatly appreciated if parents can sign up to contact the pre-populated sponsors and/or to develop new sponsors for our school.  Please go to the sign-up link (here) to learn more about the process and past sponsors.  

As a small token of gratitude, a reward of $20 (for each full-page advertisement) or $15 (for each half-page advertisement) will be awarded to each parent who successfully secures the sponsorship to our school.   Feel free to download the flyer with detailed advertising package options to facilitate your engagement with your sponsor(s).

豐收節活動流程 (Oct 30, 2021)

• 1:15 – 1:30  家長將捐贈的糖果點心小物集中放在教室外公共區域
• 1:30 – 2:30 (Group A: 各年級班代表): 負責分裝該年級學生goodie bag
• 1:30 – 2:30 (Group B: 一二年級家長+義工): 佈置拍照區，地點設置在Studio A / Studio B之間
• 2:40- 3:30 各班級拍照時間 (由pre-k開始，每個班級有5分鐘拍照時間，老師以班級為單位帶到拍照區)，為減少人流，將固定一位攝影師為各年級拍照，之後再由班級代表將照片寄給家長，拍照後班級代表將goodie bags交給各班老師
• 3:30 老師在當天課程結束後發放goodie bags讓學生們帶回家享用
• 3:30- 3:45 拍照區裝飾品由各家帶回/場地清理

Hope all is well.  As we are entering the 5th week of the Reading Month, please continue to encourage our students to keep up the momentum of Chinese book reading and/or multimedia watching/listening.  We’ve extended our directory advertisement fundraising campaign to Nov 6 to allow more sponsorship opportunities so please spread the words and reach out to your network to help our school!  Below please find a few announcements for our 8th week of the class tomorrow.

Harvest Festival Is Here! (Oct 30, 2021)

Students can wear their costumes to the class tomorrow or bring their costumes for change at school for the class group photo shoots (no weapons, gory, or violent costumes are allowed)

• 1:15 – 1:30  Parents dropping off the donation items centrally outside of the classroom area
• 1:30 – 2:30 (Group A: 10 class parent reps): Goodie bag packing outside of the classroom area
• 1:30 – 2:30 (Group B: 1st and 2nd grade parents + Booth decorating volunteers): Photo booth setup/decoration between Studio A and Studio B
• 2:40- 3:30 Classes taking turns for photo shoots (5-min slot per class, starting w/ Pre-K).  One designated photographer takes photos for all classes (to minimize foot traffic in the booth area) and distributes the photos by class to respective class parent rep for further distribution. Class parent reps distributing goodie bags to respective class teacher after photo shooting
• 3:30 Teachers distributing goodie bags to class students for take-home consumption 
• 3:30- 3:45 Photo booth clean-up

Donation Campaign for “Hybrid” Harvest Festival (Oct 9 – Oct 30; Sign-Up Link Here)

With the support of our Activity Planning Team led by Yaling Huang, we are pleased to announce that we will still host a (safety oriented) harvest festival event on Sat (Oct 30, 2021); therefore, we would like to seek families’ support to sign up for the “goodies” donation and/or event helper.  Unlike our tradition before, this year’s event will not have a school wide parade or big group photo taken.  However, we will still set up a Halloween theme booth for students’ & teachers’ photos taken by class (more details to follow).  Students are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costumes to school that day with masks on and will be receiving their goodie bags at the end of the class from their teachers to take with them home.
