MCS Newsletter – 2/26/2022

Hope everyone enjoyed the mid-winter break last week! As we return from the short-break, I wanted to take a moment to give a BIG shout-out to all the families involved in our bake sale (round 2) two weeks ago as we raised ~$800 profits in this round through another great teamwork and family support. In total, we successfully raised ~$1,450 profits from these two rounds of bake sale, which is truly amazing! Again, on behalf of MCS I really appreciate all the hard work and efforts made by the parents involved- THANK YOU!!
As previously announced, the families who placed the order(s) for the meatballs will be able to pick up their order(s) tomorrow. Please stop by the desk outside of the classroom area to pick up your order(s) and thank you for your patience!
Last but not least, tomorrow we’ll conduct our lock-down drill for the 2nd semester. Similar to the previous one done last year, the drill will begin randomly during the regular class hours tomorrow with whistle blowing by the MCS staff. All teachers have been separately informed of the procedures, and parents can make their students aware of such exercises in advance to ensure the students follow the teacher’s instructions during the drill. The drill covers the hallways within the classroom area so all personnel in the hallways please follow the evacuation route (map below) or seek shelter in the closest classroom.

All actual volunteering hours will be tracked and provided with MCS’s community service hour certificates. We look forward to having more student volunteers from the current MCS registering families (teachers included) and/or MCS alumni.
MCS is a non-profit co-op organization with students’ parents serving various non-teaching staff positions as volunteers to help create a self-sufficient, community oriented Chinese learning environment. Serving as MCS volunteer is a great way to get involved and expand your network with other MCS families, and any help you could provide is greatly appreciated. Each volunteer family is eligible for a $30 volunteer reward at the end of the school year.
